Lead Exposure Testing
$233.00 (incl. GST)
Lead is a soft, metallic element classified as a heavy metal. It can enter the body
through inhalation or ingestion, where it is absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed throughout the body. Exposure to inorganic lead compounds can cause adverse health effects, with repeated or high levels of exposure increasing the risk of serious health outcomes. Even low blood lead levels may lead to some levels of hearing loss, altered hormone responses, and other physiological changes. Higher blood lead levels can increase the risk of health problems including high blood pressure, kidney and lung cancer, anemia and other serious effects.
Melbourne Occupational Health Services provides lead exposure testing to help identify exposure early, support risk management, and ensure workplace health and safety measures are effective.
The Lead Exposure Testing includes:
- Lead blood test (Melbourne Pathology)
- Doctor’s consultation

It will take approximately 1.5 to 2 weeks.

Subject to availability, you may experience a longer waiting time before you are seen for your test as other patients may receive priority in the queue.
There are no rescheduling or cancellation fees. There may be a fee, however, if a follow-up appointment is booked with the doctor to receive medical advice and the results of the lead blood test and you do not arrive.
